Tbilisi pilgrimage: film preview and discussion
Fairfield House hosted an exclusive preview 14 May of Bath IFG’s Tbilisi Georgia pilgrimage film. The story of the work of Bishop Malkhaz Songulashvili, and reflections from those who had done the trip, triggered deep responses from the group. Those present came from a wide variety of backgrounds including CofE, post-Catholic, Jewish, Sufi, secular, Rastafari, Ethiopian Orthodox, Quaker, Bahai and humanist.
The question was asked: what religion is God? The general agreement, in line with Bishop Malkhaz’ own observation, is that to try to apply limiting attributes - such as a specific faith tradition - is to try to diminish what is infinite. There were specific matters about their various faith traditions led those present to disagree, but Bath IFG offers a safe space in which to disagree agreeably.
Around 30 people attended the event, enjoying Fairfield House welcome and hospitality. The director, Errol Russo, will now make final edits and adjustments before the 40-minute film is made shared via YouTube.
